I just spent almost an hour of off and on reading on the topic of John G. Roberts, Jr. He is Dub-Yah's new Supreme Court Justice pick.
Legal-ese was always something I thought I had a grasp on. I can read the State Code of West Virginia and make sense of it, for fuck's sake (Ohio has a Revised Code -- it's easy... WV only has the archaic Code.) However, what I read in this article was a bunch of gobledegook, and had too many verbs for me to decipher. The basic understanding I got was that he is a very right leaning individual, but I could have just been reading things wrong. The only thing I could sufficiently figure out is he's against environmental protection when it's in the face of progressive industrialism.
What have people heard? What's this guy's record? How does this appointment effect me?

Supreme court
He was arrested in 72' for drug use, has been divorced three times and now currently lives with his 18year old daughter as well as his 18 year old girl friend, he likes long walks on the beach and melting icecream cones, then in 97' he decided to do something in his life instead of sit around the house and do his love interest-took a few classes at washington state comminty college, declared that he was a well schooled person and applied for a job that would pay him good money, i.e. the supreme court justice. How this affects you......
He is your next store neighbor with the purple car.

Section XVI.IV: Don't marry yer sister, unless she's real hot.
...
Section XXII.I: Chicken fuckin' should be reserved fer special occasions.
...
Section XXXIV.VII: If there's grass on the field, play ball!"
Sorry, the WV legal code bit amused me. It should be noted that my entire knowledge of West Virginia comes from "Jesco White: Dancin' Outlaw" and half a documentary about Hasel Atkins (so maybe this is more like the Boone County legal code).
To answer your question, since I haven't gotten around to reading any actual news about Roberts, I only know what I've learned from The Daily Show:
-He's a very handsome man.
-His son Jack loves to dance.
